The European Marathon Championship is hosted by the southern French town of Laissac. In the jerseys of the Canyon Northwave MTB Team, Martin Stošek, who will be one of the favorites, will start. The Canyon Northwave MTB Team will rely primarily on Martin Stošek, who took silver last weekend in the World Cup race in the Italian Finale Ligure.
"I'm looking forward to the European Championships, the form should be good, I tried to rest now, it wasn't easy on Sunday. We had two training sessions on the track. I like the circuit, I think if there are legs, you can get a good result. I go into it with optimism and I will try to give the best possible result. We are going full, the track is similar to Czech races, but there are more hills. There are wide paths, sometimes stones, and it's enough to perform. There are a few singles, but nothing technically difficult. It's always up and down, when there is performance, you can go anywhere, "Martin Stošek told us remotely.
The track of the elite men's race is 94 km long, with elevation over 3,000 meters per race. The elite women will complete an 80 km race and climb 2,500 vertical meters.
The European Championship program starts on Sunday in the morning, the elite women will start at 9:00, the men at 9:30. Link to live timing can be found HERE.
The last race of the 2023 Marathon World Cup took place in Snowshoe, USA. Martin Stošek took 6th place in the demanding race, Marc Stutzmann was 7th and Andreas Seewald finished 12th.
In the third race of the UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Cup Andreas Seewald takes the bronze medal.In the 100-kilometer race, he was not only able to beat the winning Colombian Leonardo Paez and the second Italian Diego Rosa. Marc Stutzmann finished in 15th position, Stefanie Dohrn did not finish the race and Martin Stošek did not start the race due to illness.
The third race of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup takes place on Saturday, September 16 in Morzine, France. Canyon Northwave MTB Team enters the race in full line-up, starting Martin Stošek, Marc Stutzmann, Stefanie Dohrn and Andreas Seewald.
