The Czech team led by Kristián Hynek starts the 2023 racing season. On Thursday, February 9, Marc Stutzmann, Martin Stošek, Andreas Seewald and Stefanie Dohrn will line up at the start of the Mediterranean Epic.
The four-stage race Mediterranean Epic will be the first race test for the Canyon Northwave MTB Team riders. The race is hosted by the Spanish region of Valencia and after its end the team will move to the north of Spain where riders will attend a training camp in preparation for the first peak of the season - Cape Epic.
But back to the initial race test! Last year at the Mediteranean Epic, Andreas Seewald won the opening time trial. How will Marc Stutzmann, Andreas Seewald, Martin Stošek and Stefanie Dohrn fare this year?
"We start on Thursday, the feelings are good, the winter preparation went according to plan, I avoided any major health problems. I had a cold last week, but I'm out of it now. Fortunately, it came at a good time. In Spain, we will now get to know the terrain, the material and we will take it mainly from the training level. The main goal, of course, is Cape Epic. We will race here and then stay here for ten more days in Girona for a training camp. We will focus not only on performance training, but also on technique and material. Trainings with Karel Martinek are going well, we have now chosen a different option, the program before Epic is now different than last year, we will not go to the Andalusia Bike Race. But I feel good in training, the numbers look great, I think I did a good job this winter, so I'm excited for the races, "said Martin Stošek.
Andreas Seewald and Martin Stošek will once again form a pair of leaders at the Cape Epic, which takes place between March 19 and 26 in the Republic of South Africa. The support team will be Petr Vakoč, who does not start in Spain, with Marc Stutzmann. Do you want to be informed about what is happening in the team and its results?
